Louisville, KY (March 2019) – The Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation presented the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy with its annual distribution of $200,000 in a ceremony on March 28 at 10:00 a.m. This distribution was the largest made by the foundation since its inception and a total of $4,369,238 has been distributed to the Academy since 1965.
The Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation was established in 1960 to manage a portion of the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy’s gifted assets. The foundation’s mission is to promote, assist and cooperate in furthering the welfare of the Louisville Deaf Oral School, now the Heuser Hearing and Language Academy, primarily through financial support. The Louisville Deaf Oral School or LDOS was formed by the Woman’s Club of Louisville and The Kiwanis Club of Louisville.
“We are thankful for the partnership between the Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation and the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy that helps give children who are deaf or hard of hearing in our community the gift of sound,” says Brett Bachmann, CEO of Heuser Hearing Institute.
“It’s exciting…because of continued donations to the Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation, we are able to make our biggest annual distribution to the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy” says Sarah Snyder, President of the Louisville Deaf Oral School Foundation.
About Heuser Hearing & Language Academy
Since 1948, Heuser Hearing & Language Academy (HHLA), formerly the Louisville Deaf Oral School, has provided early intervention for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Their goal is to give each child a strong foundation from which to build a promising future. From birth to three, each child receives services through our Parent Infant Program. Once they turn three, they enter the Academy where they also receive intensive speech-language therapy, art therapy, music therapy and dance. Today the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy, on the campus of the Heuser Hearing Institute is a resource for over 150 students a year.
