Deva North
Deva North is a visual art and theater educator, multidisciplinary artist, puppet fabricator, and long-time quilter. She has worked with students at Heuser since 2022. Prior to teaching at Heuser, she worked with students of all ages in classrooms, gardens, and theaters at Coleridge-Taylor Montessori Elementary, Western Middle School for the Performing Arts, Manual High School, Mercy Academy, Kentucky School for the Blind, the Louisville Free Public Library, the Louisville Tool Library, and the Frazier History Museum. North is a two-time Jim Henson Foundation grant recipient for her puppet design and fabrication for the Mary Shelley Electric Company and has received grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women, Great Meadows Foundation, Fund for the Arts, and Puppeteers of America.
She is an enthusiastic advocate of outdoor education, free play, process-based art, collaboration, and making messes and mistakes.
