Every single one of our children comes to Heuser Hearing & Language Academy (HHLA) with a very particular set of needs and abilities. Whether their hearing is in the normal range or a profound hearing loss, their speech is delayed or it’s a disorder like apraxia, they are neurodivergent or neurotypical or have physical disabilities or are body-abled, each child deserves individualized instruction.
Teachers at HHLA use peer-reviewed, evidence-based research and practices. As early childhood education professionals the emphasis is on a play-based model is central to our daily routines. Modeling techniques, guided play, and language prompting is used to modify and adapt curriculum implementation.
At HHLA, we believe in a concept and practice of “families as partners.” Active parenting is vital to all children. Families are the first and most important teachers to children. We encourage our families to maintain communication with their child’s teachers to maintain expectations and learning from each other.
The goal of our programs is that each child will transition from HHLA to their next learning environment with the tools, strategies and resiliency needed to be successful.
