LOUISVILLE, KY (January 29th, 2020) \u2013 <\/strong>Heuser Hearing & Language Academy is proud to announce that Heuser educator Katie Telek  has been named the \u201c2020 President of the Kentucky Educators for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kentucky Educators for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is a non-profit organization designed to bring together community, resources, and information. The KYEDHH\u2019s mission is to improve instruction for the betterment of all children who are deaf or hard of hearing. Through educators like Katie, the organization works to advance education by providing networking opportunities, professional development, advocacy support, information distribution and by collaborating with other professionals and organizations serving deaf and hard of hearing students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katie has been a teacher at the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy for 3 years and an avid member of the KYEDHH for 3 years. \u201cBeing named the 2020 President of the Kentucky Educators for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is such an amazing honor! I am extremely excited to work alongside all amazing members to ensure 2020 is a groundbreaking year for the organization in an effort to bring awareness and support to children who are deaf or hard of hearing around our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About <\/strong>Heuser Hearing & Language Academy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 1948, Heuser Hearing & Language Academy (HHLA), formerly the Louisville Deaf Oral School, has provided early intervention for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Their goal is to give each child a strong foundation from which to build a promising future. From birth to three, each child receives services through our Parent Infant Program. Once they turn three, they enter the Academy where they also receive intensive speech-language therapy, art therapy, music therapy and dance. Today the Heuser Hearing & Language Academy, on the campus of the Heuser Hearing Institute is a resource for over 150 students a year. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
