She received her bachelor\u2019s degree in psychology from Transylvania University. Her first experience in the field of deaf education came after she graduated college; she was an instructional assistant at the Kentucky School for the Deaf, which is where she fell in love with the field. Grace was a social&nbsp;worker for a year before returning to school to become a teacher of the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
