Michai Lombardi
Michai attended LDOS (Louisville Deaf Oral School) from 1995-1997. She was born deaf and raised by a single mother of five children. She is the oldest, and she learned sign language and oral while a student at LDOS- now known as Heuser Hearing & Language Academy.
After graduating from Fairdale High School, Michai attended Gallaudet University, which is made up of entirely Deaf and Hard of Hearing students and teachers who do American Sign Language. She graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in social work; She then worked various jobs and decided to move back to Louisville, Kentucky. In 2022, Michai decided to go to the University of Louisville to pursue a Master of Science in Social Work. She was assigned to Heuser Hearing Institute and interned in the Behavioral Mental Health department. Her supervisor is Barbara Martin, who is fluent in sign language, which benefited her through school. She completed graduating with MSSW at U OF L on May 13, 2023.
She is now certified in Targeted Case Management and works as a social work specialist at Heuser Hearing Institute in the Integrative Counseling & Wellness Clinic. In addition, she is taking the CSW test this fall to become a mental health therapist.
