Kinya D. Embry
Kinya Embry is a licensed speech language pathologist in the state of Kentucky. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing and the Kentucky-Speech-Language Hearing Association, where she sits on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. Kinya received her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2016 and her Master of Science degree in 2018 from Western Kentucky University. She also obtained a minor in American Sign Language. Upon graduation, Kinya knew that she wanted to specialize in working with the DHH population. She began her professional career at the Kentucky School for the Deaf where she established her clinical foundation before her professional quest called for her and her 3-year-old son, Noah, to relocate here to Louisville. Kinya has experience working with a variety of pediatric clients and her passion is being a speech language pathologist. However, she has a specific interest in impacting the field of speech language pathology as it relates to working with children with hearing loss. Kinya is a Ph.D. student at the University of Kentucky, where her research focus is language development in deaf and hard of hearing children who sign. Professionally, Kinya aims to help improve the functional communication skills of all of her clients, as she believes that communication is a human right for all people. Kinya is overjoyed to join the Heuser team and cannot wait to continue to learn and grow personally and professionally with us!
